Things aren't always what they appear, and this cannot be more true of the world. People go around pretending that the world is exactly as they perceived. In their limited view of things, there is no such things demons, angels or any other creatures that have been deemed the product of the human imagination. However, these beings are very real and have been mingle with humans since the dawn of time. Some more than others. Aryos is one of these creatures. He was born eons ago during a time when man did not the existence of those whom weren't human. He was born among the dark elves. A race of people that many--including during that time---mistake for Drows. However, the two were not one in the same. A fact anyone would be able to tell if they looked upon the two people. Drows and dark elves do not look the same. The only similarities they had were they were both people whom had built an empire underground. Drows have always lived underground. While Dark elves decided to move their kingdom underground when they rejected the Gods of Light of the Elven society they had once been apart of for the Gods of Darkness.
It is, however, understandable how Drows and Dark Elves can be mistaken for one in the same. Both are secretive people whom prefer to keep to themselves. The Drows' reasons might be different than the Dark elves, but the result was the same--those outside their societies don't have a lot of opportunities to get to know their people. For the Dark Elves, the reason was because they believed outsiders to be inferior and did not wish to be polluted by them. When Aryos had been born his people had completely cut themselves off from the rest of the world for so long that many had thought they had died out. He had been born into a poor family--peasants. They were nothing special. They did not stand out in any meaningful way and they were content with this fact. The only thing his parents wished to do was raise their son and six daughters.
Aryos was not like the rest of his family--especially his parents. He did not want to be just another face in the crowd. He wanted to stand out. He wanted to reach the highest position of he could, and make something of himself. This was not something that his family understand. They laughed at him, and told him that such a dream was not possible. He was a peasant and would always remain such. There was nothing he could do to change his lot in life, and he was foolish for even making an attempt. He ignored them. He believed that it was the bitterness of their own failures that had them attacking his own dreams. He was going to prove them wrong. He was going to show them that dreams did come true. Just because he had been born a peasant did not mean he had to live his entire life as such.
He did not have to wait that long to prove to his family that dreams did come true. He was ten years when the attention of the high priest of the goddess of discord---the highest position outside the royal family. Some even argued that it was a position second only the king himself. whatever the case, the high priest noticed something within Aryos that the rest of his family had not noticed. He saw great power within the boy, and knew that if he received proper training that Aryos would be a force to reckon with. He told his parents that he wished to take Aryos on as his apprentice. Aryos did not believe to such things, but it seemed they understood him better than he thought. They could not deny just how great this opportunity. It was one that even members of the royal family would give their lives for. It, also, might just be the simple fact one did not deny the high priest of discord his desire. Whatever the truth, they gave the high priest full custody of their only son.
Aryos went to stay in the temple of discord with the high priest, and was trained by him as promised. He proved to be a quick learner whom soaked and absorbed every lesson that was thrown at him at such a rate that the high priest would have thought impossible if he had not seen it with his own eyes. He became a priest of discord within no time, and would become high priest when death found the currant one. However, his seemingly perfect took a tragic turn. He remained in contract with his family--especially his twin sister whom had been the only one to half-way understand his desire. The high priest had encouraged him to maintain relationship with them. He had told him that one is only strengthen by the bonds of families. He walked into the high priest chamber to ask him a question when he came upon his twin being raped by the man he regarded as his second father.
Anger swirled within him upon seeing the sight, and without any hesitation he killed his mentor. The only thought he was how his sister was being dishonored and how the one committing such a sin must pay. His sister let out a scream that attracted the attention of the guards for they rushed into the room to find Aryos standing over the high priest's dead body. They dragged him away to the king to stand trial. Normally, he would be dragged to the dungeons to await trial, but the crime he had committed was such a serious one that the laws required the proceedings to start right away. Aryos was not worried. He figured once he explained what had happened he would received only a snack on the hand. However, the king had no interest in hearing what he had to say. His twin sister was brought into the room and sprouted out lies when she was asked what had happened. She had told the king that her brother had kept her for the last few weeks as his personal sex slave--raping her many times during that time.
The high priest discovered what Aryos was doing to his own sister rescued her from this nightmare, and Aryos upon finding out what had happened killed him. Perhaps, he thought if he removed him that no one could stand in the way of his desire. Aryos stood there in disbelief. His sister had betrayed him, and she far from the only one. Over the course of the trial, more witnesses---including his own lover whom he thought was the other half of his soul--stepped forward. Each supported his sister's lies and added more to it until he was painted as a power hungry monster whom had killed his predecessors because he could not wait to inherit his position. Aryos begged the king to hear his side of the story, but the king refused. The evidence against him was too damning for any testimony painting a positive light of his character to change public opinion of him. They believed him to be a monster. It became clear to Aryos that what the king had intended the entire time. He did not know why the king had wished for such a thing or why those whom had went along with it did so. Whatever their reasons it made the punish the king decided to inflect upon Aryos easier to swallow.
In fact, many were cheering when it was declared Aryos would be banished---a punishment that was considered worse than death itself. His people had not had contact with the outside world for so long that some did not believe it exist. They believed that once he stepped outside their walls that he would be sucked into nothingness. Others believed that the world outside was still there, but the air outside their walls would corrupt them so much that the gods would deny them passage into the afterlife. Whatever opinion one had about laid outside their walls, it was agreed that once Aryos stepped out of them that he would be forced to wonder the empty void between this life and the next for eternity, and that was a fate deemed worse than death. Aryos was exiled from his home with nothing more than his clothes on his back. They might have even taken those if they had not been in such a hurry to get his punishment done and over with.
He wandered the world outside his homeland for many centuries becoming a mercenary. It was a job that took him to many different places of the world his people had kept their door shut for such a long time. However, within the back of his mind he remembered the injustice that had been inflicted upon him. Yes, he had killed the high priest, but if the truth had been allowed to spill instead of lies he would not have been enduring a punishment for a crime he did not commit. It was not that he hated the outside world. He was merely angry that he had been condemned guilty when he had not been. Eventually, he decided it was time to for everyone whom had played a role in this injustice that had been flung upon him to pay their just deserts. He traveled by to the land he had been exiled from where he killed those whom had played a direct role in his false guilty verdict and anyone whom simply stood in his way. Until he found himself standing before the king himself. He had every intention of killing the king, but then an idea hit him.
He could seize the throne once the deed was done. Why not? It would show his sister, whom he believed was the mastermind behind his false guilty sentence. He still didn't completely know why she did it. Whether it was envy or hatred, the idea of watching the look upon her face when he received the highest position possible within their society when she had done everything within her power to permanently condemn him to the lowest. He, also, thought it was an excellent way to punish those whom had merely stood there and watch this injustice be flung upon him. They had accepted him as a monster without question. Now, he was going to show them just what a type of a monster he could be. He killed the king. Before this idea hit him he had every intention of killing his sister and lover, but he decided to allow them to live. Let them live with the guilt of knowing whatever suffering their people have to endure is their fault, and he made sure to put them in places where they cannot escape witnessing these horrors. However, he didn't tell anyone he allowed them to live. He made everyone believed he killed them just like everyone else whom had played a direct role in him being condemned for a crime he did not commit.

Present
He became both the king of his people, and the high priest of discord. There are many whom frowned at the fact he is both. They say that a man should not be both, but there is no law forbidding him from being both. Only the Gods can tell him if they did not wish for him to be both. However, the fact the position of high priest of discord had not been filled while he was exiled led him to believe one of two things. One the Gods knew that an injustice had been done to him, and allowed him to keep the position of high priest of discord to show them this. The second was that the gods did not exist. Blasphemy he knew, but during his time in exile he had wandered the earth and came upon many deities. The thing was he never seen the faces of these gods. He just seen the people that worshiped them. It made him wonder if they actual exist or if they merely made themselves believe they exist. In the end, it does not matter. He has no intention of destroying anyone's belief in the divine. He makes sure no one has any inkling that he has doubts.
He rule his people with an iron fist. He is known as a tyrant. One with a quick anger whom will sentence someone to death for the slightest insult. He has changed many things about his society including opening their doors to the outside world. It was a decision that many protest over, but he silenced those protests like he did any other that erupted from his peoples lips--quickly and bloody. He made it clear to them what would happen if they dare stand against him. Outsiders should not delude themselves into believing such a thing as diplomatic immunity exist within his lands. When they come to his lands they are subject to his laws and the punishment that comes with breaking them. However, he does tend not to be as strict with outsiders as his own people due to the fact he understand they might not completely know the laws of their land.
However, there is one law Aryos never forgives outsiders from breaking and that is the law of trespassing. He does not take kindly to those whom have entered his lands without permission, and his response to them is usually releasing his hounds upon them. He than sits there and watches them try to maneuver the tunnels that appears to be a labyrinth to those whom have never traveled them before while escaping blood thirsty beasts. Most of the time his hounds feed those days. However, there are a few whom manages to escape those tunnels alive and even on occasion unharmed. Sometimes, Aryos does decides he likes an outsider and calls the hounds off before they have blood and sometimes he doesn't call the hounds period because there is something he likes about an outsider. If trespassing outsiders are dignitaries from another land he always let one live so they can tell their leaders that if they wish to have an audience with him that there is a proper way of acquiring it.

His cruelty is well known, but there are a select few whom see the man he could have been if he had not been made bitter by the betrayal that had been done to him. His niece being the biggest and most obvious example. She reminds him of his twin sister before she had turned on him. Some part of him believes just like his sister that this is just an act, and that she is just waiting for the right moment to stick the knife into his back. However, most of him believes she is truly what she appears. He is extremely protective of her, and tends to act more cruelly even by his standards to those whom have caused her harm. She is far from being his only niece. His sisters had many children--both daughters and sons. However, she is his favorite. He has recently found that his twin had a daughter. A girl---now woman--whom could be the daughter of the high priest whom Aryos killed. Her parentage does not matter. He decided that he was going to keep her as his personal spy. Through, her duties might not just include the work of spy. Only time will reveal how he might use her.
